Planning approval for Birmingham Smithfield

We are delighted that the hybrid planning application for Smithfield Birmingham has been approved by Birmingham City Council

Minesh Patel Architects has been working on one of the plots, a 12-storey mixed-use office building providing 20,000sqm of office space and a mix of retail and leisure facilities. The building will sit on Manor Square, a brand new events and gathering space that will play host to cultural events for thousands of people.

Designed in collaboration with @haworthtompkins @arupgroup @hdr_inc fira_landscape Meinhardt Group, OFR Consultants, @acivico_group @ramboll_uk @buro_happold and @cundall_global the office targets BREEAM Excellent, WELL Building Gold and NABERS 5 Star certifications.

The 17 hectare, £1.9bn regeneration project is a joint venture between @bhamcitycouncil and @lendlease The largely vacant site will become a new urban quarter, creating a new home for Birmingham's historic Bull Ring Markets as well as new leisure and cultural buildings.

It's been fantastic working alongside the wider design team, including RCKa, dRMM, Intervention Architecture, David Kohn Architects, EASTSIDE PROJECTS LIMITED and Field Operations.

Appointed for Smithfield Phase 1

We’re delighted to share that we’ve been appointed to work on the Smithfield Birmingham Markets development for Lendlease Europe and Birmingham City Council.

The £1.9 billion, 17 hectare city-centre regeneration scheme includes a market building, public squares, cultural buildings, offices, retail and over 3,000 new homes; all supported by a range of new community facilities and a new park, Smithfield Park.

We’re part of a fantastic team including Haworth Tompkins, RCKa, dRMM, Intervention Architecture, Prior + Partners, David Kohn Architects, EASTSIDE PROJECTS LIMITED and Field Operations

We’re currently developing initial proposals with consultation with the local community, market traders and stakeholders beginning in March.
